A Very Wyoming Wedding

Rose and Kyle
August 4, 2012

It always makes me nervous when the mother of the bride is the one who initially contacts Events, Etc.. Some of the immediate questions that come to mind are: Why can’t the bride contact me? Is the mom actually a bride-zilla? Does the mom really know what the daughter wants? Or does the mom want what the mom wants? Is this an awesome mom who is going just helping out? Multiply this situation by the woman on the phone being one of the most enthusiastic ladies I have ever talked to and I was completely baffled on what to expect from this bride and mom duo.

The first thing that won me over with this bride and mom duo was the venue selection: Trail Creek Ranch. Trail Creek Ranch has been around since 1942 (long before Jackson Hole Mountain Resort), yet very few people know it exists. It is has a wonderful story of how it came to be (which I will not attempt to tell, you will just have to as Alex the property manager, but you can also read about it on their website), it is a very special, with a welcome home feel and only locals know about it.

The second thing that won me over about this bride and mom duo was when I met them in person.  They are two of the nicest, most heartfelt and genuine people I have met in a long time.  Of course the fact that they are old school Jackson residents and full blood Italians made me love them even more (Boyfriend is also a full blood Italian so I have come to love the food and loud conversations). The more I got to know the couple and families over the months, the more I wanted to know. A few highlights are: Rose and Kyle have been together 11 years (they are high school sweethearts), I now know what Hog Island is, Rose’s parents live in Italy and this wedding had the best, most honest speeches I have ever heard.

The wedding party, a wonderful Wyoming group of friends and family.

The actually wedding day was authentic Jackson all the way. Men were wearing cowboy boots with giant belt buckles and there were more pick up trucks in the parking lot than at all the local dealerships combined. There was a woman with the Wyoming bucking bronco tattooed on her back. Everyone seemed to be related to someone else at the party.  People who live in Jackson love to party. People who are native Jacksonites are no exception. This group knew how to have a good time. There was dancing, singing and practical jokes. Kegs of Bud Light and Italian wine flowed all night. To finish off this very Wyoming wedding, the after party was at the Virginian. It does not get much more Wyoming than ending the night at the Virginian.

The newly weds danced all night long.
