Tears of Laughter and a Flash Mob

Becky and Kyle
July 7, 2012

It is not every day that someone I know asks me to be there wedding planner. One hot summer day at the Jackson Hole People’s Market, my friend Becky found me browsing the booths of fresh veggies, baked breads and crafts.  In another life known as our early 20’s, Becky and I worked at the same time as instructors for a backpacking company in Jackson Hole and somehow are both still here. I thought we would say hi and have our usual catch up  chit chat, but to my pleasant surprise she asked about Events, Etc.!

At our three month out meeting I laughed so much that I had tears in my eyes.  Becky just has a very innocent, matter of the fact way of telling stories about her family, wedding planning experience and plans for the day that left Lisa and me with tears in our eyes.  By the time we met for the final walk through, Becky had pretty much whittled her whole wedding reception schedule down to the essentials. She was done planning and ready to celebrate.

I was working at another client’s wedding on July 7, 2012 so Lisa was the on-site wedding coordinator. All day I was wondering how everything was going, if people were dancing already, did it rain there, were the out of town guests handling the ranch setting well? I finally got a text from Lisa around dinner time that it was going great and could the music go past the 11:00pm cut off. Both are excellent signs of a successful wedding.

Promptly on Monday morning I jumped on Facebook to check out photos posted by our friends.  Everything looked like the standard wedding, until the flash mob photos. That’s right, there was a flash mob. A flash mob in 80’s ski outfits. I am still a bit fuzzy on the details, except that it was awesome.  What is clear, is that the ceremony was beautiful, friends and family celebrated all night, Becky was glowing and there was a flash mob.

Instead of a first dance, the couple had a first song that they sang together.
